Music: What’s coming this Summer?

Summer 2005 is set to be a great summer for Irish music and Music in general.
Here’s what I am looking forward to the most…

Oxegen

  • Razorlight - I just can’t wait to see them performing at oxegen. I’ve seen some clips of them live, they put a lot of energy into their performaces, they have a great album aswell.
  • The Frames - Always a great live band.
  • The Foo’s - They will hopefully be performing a few tracks from their upcoming album (”This will be our Best ever” Dave Grohl).
  • Saw Doctors - just confirmed, What a band.
  • New Order - Legends.

Coldplay @ Marlay Park
Coldplay Live is always going to be a great gig, I just hope that their new album lives up to the previous two.

Killarney Summerfest
Bell X1 & Snow Patrol enough said. Paddy Casey will be there aswell but I’m not Paddy’s greatest fan.

Album Releases

  • Coldplay “X&Y” - It’s a Coldplay album, so it’s hard not to get really excited about it
  • Bell X1 “Flock” - Will this be the album to bring them mainstream? This is the album I’m looking forward to the most.
  • Damien Rice’s second album - Will Damien Rice’s second album arrive this Summer? I’m hoping on an August release.
  • Oasis “Don’t Believe the Thruth” - It’s an Oasis album, although i’m not that impressed with first single from the album “Lyla”.
  • The Coral “The Invisible Invaision” - The Coral are a band that always get me excited. They are pure talent.
  • White Stripes “Get Behind Me Satan” - It’d be interesting to see what they do with this album, I love their earlier albums.

What are you most looking forwad to? Please comment below and tell what excites you about the summer to come (New albums, emerging bands, festivals etc..) .

If there’s anybody who has had the pleasure of meeting a certain Bussiness/Economics teacher, then I would recommend that you leave your feedback about her here.

There are many good teachers that you might want to rate too like Arthur Twomey, who’s a great teacher despite the fact that my leaving cert. Geography results sucked.

Hugh’s Place

Hugh in his Titanic poseHugh and his two lovely housemates were kind enough to host me and Laura when we stayed in Limerick for the Bell X1 gig. We stayed up past 5 that morning while Hugh played Mary I clasics such as Rocky Mountain. That just about made up for the hour and a half me and Laura spent outside in the freezing cold because Hugh was out chatting up some girls.

Been down to Hugh’s place with Conor before and ended up down there a few extra days, so big up to Hugh and his 2 ladies for their hospitality.

Anyway I forgot to bring my camera to the bell x1 gig, but I took a few pictures of Hugh, BrĂd and Ellen. Click the link below to see them.
